This type of brooch always reminds me of a medal. And I think we should have more medals in this world; you know the type that people get for getting up in the morning, etc. For the other type of medal stuff I don't really care for. The last time I made brooches using these vintage brooch findings I titled the blog post about them "medals of honor and medals of ennui". I don't really know what these new medals are for, but I like them a lot. The lightning bolts are something I've also experimented with earlier. Dangly things keep fascinating me.

(approx. 5x4,5cm / 2"x1.8" - vintage brooch base, vintage dictionary text, mica, vintage photo, vintage glass beads, thread, linen thread, glue)
to follow the thunder
(approx. 5x7,5cm / 2"x3" - vintage brooch base, vintage dictionary text, mica, vintage photo, board, looped jewelry headpins, board, glue, lacquer)
I still have a few of these brooch bases, but more than a few ideas. I don't know if I should hunt down more supplies or just figure out other ways to make the poetry brooches I already have ideas for. The idea of wearable art is so lovely, I know I'll end up making more brooches whatever the foundation ends up being.
