This is my 100th blog post! I thought I would write a special post with lots of pictures of things I've made, but Blogger got cranky and I got tired with Blogger, so there are no pictures of my work. Just some things that have made me really, really happy this weekend!
When I walked home from work yesterday afternoon I noticed something that wasn't there in the morning. It was the wonderful scent of bird cherry! The flowers were really tiny then, but you can see some of them in the photo I took today. Spring has come so fast! It wasn't even two weeks ago that I was still wearing my winter coat (which isn't the warmest imaginable, but still...) and now everything is green. Today it was +26C (78.8F), and for me that's hot!
We celebrated the grand opening of balcony season by having breakfast, dinner and whatnots right there in the sun. I baked cupcakes, or was it muffins, and they were great. (Oh dear, can someone explain the difference?) I finished two embroidered brooches too!
And now I remember that I have completely forgotten to let you know that I had a shop update the other day. (Well, I'm obviously not my usual self, but at least I'm happy.) You can find more pencil cases, books and embroidered brooches in the shop. There are also two new light colorways in the books of good things! Seems like a ton of things has happened during my blog absence.
Last night it rained so hard that I couldn't sleep well. The rain kept pattering the tin roof near our window very loudly. Now the slippery park is still a slippery park, only the slippery ice has just turned into slippery mud. If you don't walk fast enough, you'll sink. I didn't try how deep...
I finished this pretty custom order last weekend. A larger version of I need some privacy books, 7.5"x9.5". When I get a custom order in inches, I really don't bother to covert the measures into centimeters. It'll just confuse me. I've got a good ruler with inches. I don't need to know what I'm doing, I'll just count on the magic ruler.
These pouches have been in progress for ages. I've made some more bird and tree pouches and a whole new design with bird footprints! All pouches are fair trade cotton, and all designs come in two sizes. Of course I haven't finished the small bird & footprint pouches yet, but they're coming, they're coming soon! All pouches below are in my shop now.
And I've got a new widget in my blog! Go see VerveEarth. I don't really know much about it, but it makes me feel like I'm one of the cool kids when they e-mail me and invite me to join!
So I had a gocco printing Wednesday, then I had a bookbinding Thursday, photography & Harry Potter Friday and a shop update Saturday. I listed a whole bunch of new things on Etsy last night. It's so much more satisfying to list a dozen things at once than to list something every once in a while. I think I like things big.
The last Harry Potter was definitely a big book. It was released in Finnish on Friday and for some reason I went and bought it. Usually I've read my mom's books while visiting her, but now I know I won't be going there any time soon, so I needed to get my own book. I haven't read any Harry Potters in English as our Finnish translator is so great that I rather enjoy her language than read in English and miss out on meanings. I read the book in less than two days, over 800 pages. It was great fun, but I'm happy that it's over now :)
Wednesday's results: small matchbook style notebooks and a whole bunch of gocco printed card sets! I'm more than happy how all things turned out.
Small matchbook style notebooks with a fresh and elegant dark brown gocco printed image. 24 sturdy off-white pages, that are perforated so that used pages can easily be torn away but won't come out on their own. Sewn with waxed natural linen thread. 3.1"x4.3"x0.2" (7,8x10,8x0.6cm)
These are my favorite cards: tiny, lovely and birdy. Birds on tree branches are printed in dark brown on brown kraft cardboard. These kraft cards will be sold in sets of four, together with high quality envelopes. 2.6"x4.1" (6,7x10,5cm), blank inside.
And the giveaway mini card sets are also available in the shop at last! It took me quite a while to get these packed and photographed!
