hardcover journals & important dates

Unsurprisingly, it’s absolutely hectic in here. Orders flying out the door (thank you!!!!) and new books coming out of the press. There’ll be a roundup post of the Office Hours later, but first I need to get out of this survival mode!

If you want to treat yourself or someone you really like to a Paperiaarre paper treasure this Holiday season, please order by the date listed below:

United States and Canada - Dec 7th
Europe - Dec 13th
Finland - Dec 18th
Rest of the world - Dec 2nd

These dates are based on recommendations by the Finnish postal service, but there's no way to 100% guarantee delivery in time for Christmas if something completely out of the ordinary happens during the holiday rush, so, it's always best to order as early as possible! Thanks so much for your support! It means the world to me have you guys use my books as vessels for your ideas - genious or not!

If you’re after a hardcover journal or two, I’ve got plenty of new options available for you:

These four books have beautiful print endpapers and 4mm dotted grid pages - perfect for bullet journaling. You can find them here.

This purple and pink duo has lovely brush stroke print endpapers and blank pages. You can find them here.

This turquoise one has tons of pages and some extraordinarily beautiful silver print endpapers. You can find it here.

Now I’m off to perform a deadline miracle of sorts - my #areyoubookenough project is still miles and miles away from finished. It’s actually only a hair beyond being just an idea, but I’m still fairly confident I can make it happen tonight!

lovely bunnies + office hours today

I was caught by surprise when three out of four of these bunny books were sold within 24 hours. Now there’s still one darling pink one left for one lucky customer! The adorable bunny endpapers are an edited reproduction of a vintage endpaper pattern I fell in love with. I hope to make some more of these bunny books in new colour combinations, but there’s still a few other things on my to-do list before I can get to those.

Just a quick reminder today’s the day when you can ask me all sorts of questions about bookbinding - see my latest Instagram post and ask your questions in the comments section. Later I’ll put together a blog post with all the questions and aswers, so even people who don’t do social media can benefit and all the info is easily found in one blog post. Please see the roundup post of previously asked and answered questions - you may find your question already answered!

all day office hours on thursday!

It’s been too long since I last had an all day office hours session on Instagram! I decided to have one this Thursday (Nov 22nd), so, maybe start thinking about questions you’d like me to answer for you? I graduated as a master bookbinder in 2006, so I have a fairly wide knowledge base about most things related to bookbinding, not just about the things you see me make. I’d say my engineer brain’s specialty is troubleshooting handmade books that misbehave in one way or another, but feel free to ask about whatever. I promise I’ll try to come up with a satisfactory answer for you. For obvious reasons I won’t be able to write you full tutorials for bindings or special techniques, but I can try pointing you in the right direction on the smaller stuff.

I’ll set up an Instagram post dedicated for your questions around noon (gmt+2) and you’ll have until the following morning to leave your questions in the comment section of that post. I’ll answer them as soon as I can, and afterwards I’ll once again gather all the questions and answers into a blog post for your convenience. It’d be greatly appreciated if you took a look at the questions and aswers from earlier office hours sessions, so I won’t have to answer the same stuff over and over again. You can find the big Q&A roundup post here.

Follow me on Instagram to have the office hours post pop directly into your feed - I’ll also post reminders in my insta stories on the day of!

new bullet journals

Instead of going on a quick getaway to Berlin this week I’ve been working extra hard to make up the time I spent sneezing and watching Netflix. Berlin will still be there later, I hope. The first lot of finished books is one of 6+1 long stitch bullet journals. Six books have off-white pages with a smaller 4 mm dotted grid whereas the lonely one has heavier bright white paper with a 5 mm dotted grid and a different sewing pattern on the spine.

I hate always being so early to mention how the holiday season is fast approaching, but Finland is so far away from most of you that I really must! For you guys living in countries not in Europe or North America it’s recommended you place your order as soon as possible and no later than November 22nd - the rest of you have a little more time, but it’s still a good idea to be early rather than to be late. And there’s always the issue of Paperiaarre items being unique and hence worth grabbing the moment you see something you fancy! So maybe treat yourself (or someone else) with a new bullet journal this week and get organized now instead of 2019? You can find these seven and all other available dotted grid notebooks in my shop through this link.

Next on my to-do-list is attending a poetry event (as an audience member this time!), finishing a special book for an old friend, and finishing the covers for a small lot of notebooks with vintage bunny print endpapers. I should have them ready for you guys in a week or so!

watercolour sketchbooks

November arrived and stole some more of our precious daylight. I’ve been nursing my second cold in a month and worked only with my fuzzy brain. Maybe next week I’ll tackle the stack of half-finished bullet journals. Maybe next week I’ll run away for a while instead. We’ll see. Today I still have fresh books for you from the days not yet spent in bed. One of the most inquired after specialties is books suitable for painting with watercolours - your wishes have been heard and now there’s not only books with paper for mixed media in the shop but also these hardcover watercolour paper sketchbooks.
