the first ones and the ones still to come

The whole concept of a new year as a fresh start doesn't really do it for me, but as I read about other people's resolutions, some of it rubs off on me, too. Not to the point of making actual New Year's resolutions, but to the point of me sitting down and writing down some of the things I hope to accomplish/make/experience in 2017. None of my personal goals include weight loss, an even healthier diet, or quitting anything fun.

The first books of the year tick many boxes in my 2017 plan: more bullet journals, more varied longstitch designs, more blue, more patterns. After having a serious blue period in my teens I haven't used much blue at all. So, in the name of variety, I decided it was time to embrace blue as a valid option to my go-to-hues every now and then. (These three books are now available in my Etsy shop.)

Also on my list for 2017:

  • finish writing 2nd poetry book
  • make an edition of artists' books
  • create more tutorials for the blog
  • write a blog post for beginner bookbinders
  • explore new bookbinding structures and techniques I haven't used in a while
  • finish one full leather fine binding (a variation of this one)
  • make decorated edges (it's been a looong while since my last)
  • sew some fancy endbands just for fun
  • make some one-off books with mixed media covers
  • use gilt linen on books
  • make some larger mixed media pieces
  • make more mixed media jewelry
  • find out what you've hidden under the bed (there's tons of bookbinding stuff there from my student days)
  • use that trusty bullet journal religiously and it'll all work out okay

What are you most looking forward to seeing here in my blog? Anything you think I should add to my list? And what did your write on yours? (I know you wrote one, even if just in your mind while reading this post...)
